In the biggest issue ever of Country Sampler Magazine, Christina Katz has not just one, but two feature profiles! “Handcrafted Harmony” is on page 22. And “Colonial Comfort & Joy” is on page 32. If you want some holiday decorating inspiration, check ’em out!

Christina also signed a contract for and is now writing her second book for Writer’s Digest Books to be announced after the New Year in Publisher’s Lunch.

Lori Russell’s feature article “Wisdom Earned on the Trail” about one women’s experience hiking the Pacific Crest Trail was published in the October edition of Ruralite magazine. The article won the Story of the Month award and Lori immediatley sold it as a reprint along with an additonal sidebar. Her feature “A Grand Tradition Rides On” appears in the November issue of Ruralite.

Lori published five profiles of contemporary Native American artists in Redivia. Her features,”Rescue Realitites” and “Adopt an Acre Brings the Classroom to Life” appear in the fall issue of Columbia Gorge Magazine.

  3. 3 Pat Nelson November 11, 2007 at 9:16 pm

Pat Nelson’s story “Indian Summer” appears in the recently-released “Chicken Soup for the Soul in Menopause.

About 1 1/2 years ago, Nelson decided to face rejection head on, and she submitted her first story, “Blind Sighted,” to Chicken Soup for the Soul. To her surprise, she received praise instead of rejection. When that book was cancelled, coauthor Dahlynn McKowen said she would try to place the story in another book, and just last month Nelson signed permission for Chicken Soup to include her story in an upcoming book, “Stories to Soothe the Spirit,” due out in June, 2008.
