This is what I am always saying, but writers always say:"but my mom loved it!" and I ask, "But is your mom an editor at Double Day?", to which they say: "Of course not, what differance does that make?" My answer... well a lot of differance. Every mom loves their baby's work, every school teacher has a class full of fans, but does that make your manuscript good? You'll never know until you get an unbiased vote on it. Saddly, very few writers want to hear this.
